“We actually have two brand new subs that we made for Cataclysm. These submarines will be used as transports,” said Blizzard in a fan Q&A. “We have one for gnomes and one for goblins. The subs are huge too! Both are about the size of the Gunships from Icecrown.”
Blizzard newfound love of the sea will result in upgraded water effects and new aquatic areas in existing zones, as well. “We are opening up as many places as we can to the water in Cataclysm. Shimmering Flats is a town south of Kalimdor rumored to be Warcraft’s homage to Tatooine– home of both Anakin and Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise. With the zone flooded for the upcoming Cataclysm expansion, perhaps Blizz will add another port town in Tanaris.
Changes & additions announced yesterday include remodeling of Lordaeron, stepping up BGs and rated BGs (Arena) and Western Plaguelands to be free of the plague in Cataclysm.
